My name is Zhelana Vovkivna, and I am a Jew living under the Kyivan Rus. I began playing in the SCA in the great Kingdom of the Outlands in 2000. I currently reside in the grand Kingdom of Meridies and live in the Barony of South Downs.
Mundanely, my name is Danielle, but honestly most of my friends call me Zhelana. I have a masters degree in history from Georgia Southern University, and a BA in anthropology from Colorado College. Although I am not currently working in academia, I maintain my passionate interest in history and culture. I have created this site to help people who want to play Jewish personas in the SCA. I hope to encourage people to do so, despite the fact that for almost all of period, Jews were persecuted wherever they went.
I've had a lifelong fascination with the Jewish religion, people, and culture, and in 2014 I converted to Judaism under the tutelage of Rabbi Erin Boxt. I am a member of Temple Kol Emeth in Marietta, GA.
